Special Release Sonoma Coast Rosé of Pinot Noir
2021
Winemaker’s Notes
Our 2021 Rosé of Pinot Noir is utterly delicious—it’s as simple as that. Higher in acidity than the 2020 rosé with greater focus and length, it’s a wine of clarity, precision, and deep flavor. The vine and grape pedigree are exceptional, as the fruit was harvested from 15-year-old vines planted at Occidental Road Vineyard that are also used for our Member-favorite Finn bottling. There’s a lower corner section planted on heavy, swelling clay that is perfect for early-harvest rosé, as it offers a tremendous density of flavor balanced by prominent acidity.
The wine’s aromas are piercingly intense with grapefruit, white peach, and lemongrass notes alongside a minty, orange rind freshness. The palate is full of red berry and citrus tones with saline watermelon elements and vibrant tangy acidity. The deep oily texture and natural leesy richness show how seriously we treat this wine in both vineyard and cellar. This is superb on any level.
The hand-painted watercolor label was designed by prominent illustrator and DuMOL logo artist, Craig Frazier. The thistle thrives in Northern California and also speaks to the birthplace of our Winegrower, Andy Smith. This artwork is intended to reflect the detail, beauty, and place of our wines.
