Winemaker’s Notes

Our 2024 Meteor Cabernet is the most beautifully aromatic, silky-textured expression of cool-climate Napa Cabernet imaginable, overflowing with fruit purity that borders on beguiling. I could go on, but suffice it to say we’re in love with this wine and know you’ll find it just as irresistible. Everything about it is seamless, natural, and effortless. I’ve just realized I’m describing a Pinot lover’s Cabernet. 

Some vintages get better and better the longer they go, and that was the case in 2024, so that the final vineyards and varieties to be harvested invariably produce the vintage highlights. Meteor is the final vineyard we pick each year since its cool, Bay-influenced location allows the fruit to hang long on the vine, accumulating grand-scale complexity and detail. This is a wine you can open soon after release for its forward deliciousness, but it will develop in bottle for fifteen years, so impeccable is its balance of fruit, savory character, and structure. 

The wine’s effusive aromas and flavors range through red and black currant, violet, cedar, sweet sage, spearmint, dark berry, and pine needle. It balances concentration and delicacy with magical fruit purity; refined tannins and acidity extend its long, rising finish. Decant gently for an hour in its youth and drink between 2027 and 2042.
