Special Release Sonoma Coast Chenin Blanc
2021

Winemaker’s Notes

Our 2021 Chenin is stylistically similar to the 2019 vintage rather than the leaner 2020. It’s quite a rich wine with texture and layers but just enough acidity to bring freshness and drive. In our opinion, great Chenin should combine just-ripe fruit characters with a natural savory edge, and slightly waxy/honeyed richness with electric acidity. When these elements are in harmony, the wine will be elevated beyond a simple everyday drinker. With suitable soils, climate, vine material, and sensitive farming, our MacIntyre Estate offers just that. You can drink this wine soon after release, but I encourage you to age a single bottle for two or three years to see the transformation Chenin will undergo with time.

Intensely savory aromas: chamomile and matcha, just-ripe pear and green apple, cut grass and minerals. Bright and steely palate—waxy apple, honeydew melon and ginger. The wine relaxes with air; layers and texture open. Beeswax and honeycomb sweetness then chalky saline acidity and a pleasant mouthwatering light bitterness to finish. Serve at 55F and drink between mid-2023 and 2027.
