Special Release Sonoma Coast Chenin Blanc
2024
Winemaker’s Notes
We continue to learn, experiment, and adapt our approach to cool climate coastal Sonoma Chenin Blanc as each vintage presents its own set of unique conditions. Our 2024 bottling, harvested late into the season, is among the richer bottlings so far, but it requires time to unfurl in the glass and develop from tense/taut to broad/generous. In that regard, it’s most similar to its 2018 counterpart. Extended aging of the wine on its original yeast sediment brought all the disparate vineyard, fruit and savory characters slowly into equilibrium – yes, great wine requires patience. There's world class quality on display here, and I expect this wine will gain many accolades and fans alike.
Wildly expressive with intense aromas and flavors akin to oyster shell and briny green olive, lemongrass and sherbet, pear, waxy apple, and richer apricot. The wine’s immediate energy and vibrancy gradually transitions to a deep rich inner core of enveloping waxy texture. Coastal acidity provides focus and structure with a finish infused by fresh mint and citrus zest. Drink between mid-2026 and 2032.
Kindly note, as part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability, this wine is bottled without a foil capsule.
