Fall Release Finn Pinot Noir
2020
Winemaker’s Notes
This is our twenty-first vintage of Finn and with it comes a wine of real poise, artistry, and authenticity. The aromas and flavors are so true to the wine’s historical style that if we went back to the first vintage in 2000, the lineage would be unmistakable. This is the type of wine you need to spend an entire evening (or two) with, as it develops and transforms so completely in the glass. There are soaring aromatics, lovely fruit purity, enveloping texture, fine structure that drives the wine forward, and rising clarity to the finish. The wine’s natural flow and equilibrium set it apart. In the supple style of the 2020 vintage, the wine is approachable soon after release, but I suggest at least three years of aging and cellaring potential of fifteen years.
Great aromatic complexity: red, blue, and black berries, Asian spices, violet, and anise. The palate is concentrated yet precise with a broad range of red to black fruit flavors and a sense of inky intensity. Full, rich, and layered in the middle, the wine flows beautifully picking up elegance and freshness to its lifted finish. Underbrushy notes add complexity to the wine’s deep fruit core. Serve at 60°F.
