Spring Release Wildrose Estate Pinot Noir
2019

Winemaker’s Notes

Wildrose wins the perennial prize as our most intrinsically balanced vineyard, a site where root depth, leaf canopy, and crop level find a natural equilibrium with their environment. Organically farmed and non-irrigated, this vineyard has minimal human inputs, allowing these vines to determine their own destiny each year, their qualities effortlessly expressed in the bottle.

As usual, a third of the fruit underwent the ancient method of whole-cluster fermentation, beautifully enhancing the wine’s succulence and layered mouthfeel, creating a wine that’s simultaneously seductive and cerebral with incredible detail. The aromas are multidimensional and hugely complex: Wild strawberry, blood orange, thyme leaf, and cedar merge into darker conifer and raspberry notes. Lifted red fruits collide with a deep, savory character. The palate unfolds from silky and layered to broad and resonant with tart and spicy hibiscus flavors flowing to ripe raspberry as the wine unwinds in the glass. The unmistakable elegance and deftness of the wine’s lacy texture are balanced by rising freshness on a lingering finish of black tea and Asian spice.

Drink between 2022 and 2030.
